- Vijyasar: Vijaysar help reduce total cholesterol, low-density lipo-protein and serum triglyceride levels in the body. It also tends to reduce symptoms of diabetes like frequent urination, overeating and burning sensation in limbs.
- Mamejova: Mamejava is a herb that is widely used for treating and alleviating the effects of both type I and type II diabetes. Traditionally it is used as a laxative and can be used to reduced blood glucose and insulin levels.
- Gurmar: Gurmar is used for diabetes, metabolic syndrome, weight loss, and cough. It is also used for malaria and as a snake bite antidote, digestive stimulant, laxative, appetite suppressant, and diuretic.
- Saptrangi: Saptrangi is an indigenous antidiabetic plant popularly used in South India for diabetes mellitus, lowers blood glucose level under normal and glucose load conditions, and in streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetes in rats.
- Jambu: Jambu is an important medicinal plant used in various traditional systems of medicine. It is effective in the treatment of diabetes mellitus, inflammation, ulcers and diarrhea and preclinical studies have also shown it to possess chemopreventive, radioprotective and antineoplastic properties.
- Guduchi: Giloy acts as a hypoglycaemic agent and helps treat diabetes (particularly Type 2 diabetes). Giloy is used in Ayurvedic rasayans to improve the immune system and the body’s resistance to infections. The bitter principle present shows antiperiodic, antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic properties. It is used in general debility, digestive disturbances, loss of appetite and fever in children. It is also an effective immunostimulant. The drug has antiviral and antibacterial effects. - Neem: The drug is insecticide and antiseptic and useful in skin disorders. It is useful in itching, urticaria, eczema, leprosy, ringworm, scabies, pemphigus, is anti-inflammatory and astringent. Neem leaf powder was found to control diabetic symptomson non-insulin male dependent diabetics too. Neem leaves are loaded with flavonoids, triterpenoid, anti-viral compounds and glycosides, which may help manage blood sugar levels and ensure there is no surge in glucose.
- Haritaki: Haritaki (Terminala Chebula) is useful in fever, coughs, asthma, urinary diseases, piles, worms and in rheumatism. This is highly useful in small quantity in chronic diarrhoea, dysentery, flatulence, vomiting, hiccup, colic and enlarged spleen and liver.
- Karela: Karela has a few active substances with anti-diabetic properties. One of them is charantin, which is famous for its blood glucose-lowering effect. Bitter gourd contains an insulin-like compound called Polypeptide-p or p-insulin which has been shown to control diabetes naturally.
- Pramehahar kwath: It is found to be useful in the treatment of several kinds of ailments and diabete.
